Time to Ponder yet
again. You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings
and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the
magic!!
(If you want to send me
words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel
free to do so!)
Today's word is LITTER (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page
Not being a cat person, kitty litter was never anything I had to worry about....BUT as my daughter and son-in-law prepare for their new lives they will be staying with me and they have a CAT! So...looks like I'm going to get quite familiar with kitty litter.
Now the most interesting thing I fin about this word is that it is both a noun and verb. When one litters - that is a verb; however when the litter is left on the ground that is a noun.
There are also litters in animals that have nothing to do with trash or kitty poo. Who could forget the huge litter of puppies in 101 Dalmations? So we know that cats and dogs have litters, but what if a bird lays multiple eggs? Is that a litter of eggs, or are they only litter when they hit the ground?
Link up and let me know what you think!
Happy Pondering!
Wonderful ponder today. When my daughter came home she also brought a cat into the house. While she was here we did not have a mouse problem so there are some benefits.
ReplyDeleteUgh! I hope I don't have a mouse problem now!
DeleteA litter of any animals is kinda cute! Or how about when the trees litter all over the yard! I missed adding that one to my post. It just came to me!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah... AND I have one of those trees ---stupid litter berry things that stain everything they touch
DeleteI didn't know that you were going to have cat company at your house... that will be interesting, and I'm just betting you will fall in love... especially if the kitty likes to help with yarn and needlework, and most of them do! ;-) The question is what Trixie will think of it, maybe they will be the best of friends!
ReplyDeleteI'm already in love with the cat. I met her last December. We are just hoping that she and Trixy get along, but then we have another issue of the dog door - Trixy uses it and Skittles is an inside cat and MIchelle does not want her going outside.
DeleteShould be fun!
Yes, that is going to be tricky indeed! My daughter's cats are indoor/outdoor. Mine used to be, but it is too dangerous where we live, so now they have a nice mesh play dome they can be out in to enjoy the fresh air/sights/smells, but can't be harmed. Sounds like you will be spending some time monitoring Trixy's in and out needs, but it will be worth it to have your daughter home!
Delete'Litter' is an interesting English word, and I enjoyed pondering on it.
ReplyDeleteI am very familiar with the kitty type of litter of late!! Oh my. It's supposed to be my son's job - and he actually is doing okay, but I always check to make sure it's been done properly. stinky stuff. I keep the window of the room we keep it in open all day.
ReplyDeleteBut I can't stand people who throw their garbage on mother Earth even more. litter bugs - eeeww!!
