Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

I am asking everyone to come up with words they would like to ponder for the New Year.... Please email or just leave a comment .. Thanks!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is Cold (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

The only time I enjoy (ha ha ha) having a cold is when it is cold outside and I can hunker down with blankets and hot tea. It is awful having a cold during the summer - not only do you feel lousy, but it is hot and sticky to boot!

Cold is an interesting word. I suppose it is a temperature - but is cold to me the same as cold to you? And then of course there is food that is best served cold (or does room temperature count?). Of course the head cold (why is it cold?) you don't feel so hot!

But this word is also connected to emotions. If you are aloof, emotionless, insensitive you are said to be cold hearted. Well if that were true, you wouldn't even be here!

And then of course there are cold blooded animals (sorry can't think of any right now!)

So let me know what you think of cold

Happy Pondering ... and happy holidays to you and yours.
I will return after the first of the year with more words to ponder!

  1. 'Cold' is an apt word to ponder at this time of the year.
Cold-blooded animals like snakes and frogs must be hibernating now where I live.

  2. I thought this was a great word for the day, Brenda. Yesterday it was about 45 in Texas, but was raining off and on. The cold was not like in the north, but it sliced right into your skin. It was Cold!

  4. One of my favourite Christmas songs! Sad to see that it is getting a lot of negative comments now. I don't think people are taking into consideration the context of the times of when it was originally written.
It's definitely cold here! But thankfully, we are over all our colds. Hopefully for the season, although that's highly unlikely. I was feeling a bit of that cold - as in being "distant" today -- and it set up a serious writing block for any kind of post. I don't know.... I am kinda left out in the cold as far as inspiration is concerned today.
Let's hope the new Year brings better pondering for me.

  5. Cold is very relative! I think it is cold here if the wind is a little chilly, while my family in the Midwest roll their eyes as they hunker down in below-freezing temps! I am not conditioned for that kind of cold anymore! Yes, why are colds called "colds"? I suppose it comes with the once-held belief that one could catch a cold from exposure to the cold. I didn't even think about being cold-hearted. I try to distance myself from people like that, sad to sad that I do know a few, but I don't really understand them! I added a recipe for cold stuff at the end of my post, that will definitely leave you feeling warm and cozy inside! :-))

  6. Summer colds are positively horrendous. I made through almost 9 weeks of camp and the last week the little buggers got to me and I had to drag myself to work feeling like crap. Yup. Colds suck. And I do not like the cold. That's why I love living in Florida.

  7. Love that song and phewy on those making it more than what it is! I miss the days when the season brought out the best in folks not the worst. I have been a tad disappointed this season as it seems people have been far more cold than festive - even those that Santa has been good too.
