What club are you in?

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is Club you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

I always wanted to be a part of a club that meant something....didn't happen.
When I was in 2nd grade I became a Blue Bird which in turn became a Camp Fire Girl.....have you ever heard of this club?  Didn't think so..... but you have heard of the Girl Scouts....wrong club for me!!!

Then I joined an organization called BBYO --- ever heard of it... didn't think so!

I guess I always joined the wrong club....

But that is not to say that I never went clubbing (well, actually, I never did! the bar scene was never really for me.)

But the real reason I came up with this word was because of all the police brutality that is occuring all over the US ---what with billy clubs (excuse me??) and Tasers and Shootings.. that is one club I don't want to be a part of.

Please let me know what you think of this diverse word and link up.

Crude to you too!

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is Crude (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

Why is it called crude oil? Does that mean it is before it is refined?

So does that really mean is before refinement?

A crude comment is certainly not refined.

Nor is a crude person

But then why wouldn't a diamond straight out of the earth be called a crude diamond?

This is indeed an interesting work.

Happy Pondering....

When the bough breaks....

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is Cradle (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

With Grand Baby #4 due in three months it is time to pull the cradle back out - not that these children of mine have given me much time in between babies!

A cradle is something that a baby can sleep in, or you could actually cradle the baby in your arms. Image result for cradle

And then of course there is cradle cap - which is a very misleading name as it has to do with the head of a baby!

Have you ever seen an animal cradle a prized toy, treat or person?

Image result for cradle
Can you explain why a hammock is called a hammock and not a cradle?

Lay the brick

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is Brick (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

I have been paying much more attention to yards as I will have to create a brand new at my new home. I will have approximately 12' x 60' worth of area and am determining what I want to do with it.

When I had this opportunity before I built brick planters - old fashioned style with the red bricks layered 3 high. But this time I have been looking at other types of bricks

I really like these: Image result for landscape bricks  I actually always have. With the rounded edges a straight line is not imperative

Then there are these: Image result for landscape bricks  I'm not sure that these are really considered bricks, much more like sculpted rocks.

Now there are other uses of this word, but I really believe that the term brick might just mean something that is shaped - well like a brick!

How about you? Any thoughts today?

Bail for fun

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is Bail (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

So here is a tidbit from my past that I rarely think about: When I was a little girl our parents (3 bros and I) enrolled us in sailing classes every summer. We would sail sabots (little 8 foot sailboats).  I was quite small and would often capsize. I remember that when I took water into the boat I would be told to bail. So that is my first impression of this word, however now that I've grown a bit older I find that I am constantly having to bail my kids out of financial jams.... (well not so constantly any more - but does it end???)

And then of course there are the Bail Bondsmen all over the place. Never quite understood why posting money was considered bail when I always thought the word was used to empty - or save something.

Around Halloween many mazes are made from a bale of hay.... not sure if I've ever seen that word used in any other meaning...

How about you?  Any ideas on bail?

To be a brute or not to be

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is BRUTE (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

I think of strength when I think of Brute.
It is like Brute force ---but then I wander (ponder) off to Brutus - that is an old Roman name and I am thinking it too meant strength (now how would you know when a child is born that he is going to be strong?)

And then there is just a brute - that is a mean spirited person - sort of like a bully only stronger!

This is what I found when I looked for images under Brute:

Not really sure what this is!

How about you...what does this word conjure up?

Branching out

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is BRANCH (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

I walked into my branch of the bank and looked at the branches of the plants and trees that surrounded it and I loved this word!

I have this one tree in my backyard (a persimmon tree) that has huge leaves on it, when there are leaves on it; but now it looks lonely with branches and no leaves.... There is something lonely about a tree without leaves, don't you think.

Some branches are thick and some are thin.  check these out:

You know that picture makes me think of reindeer antlers - they look just like branches - so why are they called antlers??? or why aren't tree branches called antlers?

Now that is something to ponder!

Link up and let me know what you think!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is BRIDGE (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

I used to love going for drives just to see the different types of Bridges along the way
Some of my favorites:

So a bridge is a way to get from one side to the other

Then how do you bridge the gap between generations and differences of opinions?

And who came up with the name Bridge for something in your mouth

Or as a card game?

Today's word is BOX (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

This is one of those words that has so many varying definitions. Of course a box is a square container, but they come in so many sizes and shapes.
and then when you throw a ribbon on it it becomes a gift box!

There is also a box on forms that you have to fill in...

There are window boxes which usually hold flowers:

and a window box valance

In addition there is a sport where in you box....
Now why this isn't just called fighting is beyond me!

AND then there is Boxing day?????

What do you think about this word?  Link up and join in the fun!
