If you're new to this site, I post a word for you to ponder that often has multiple meanings. Please write your thoughts and link up so we can all see!
Happy Pondering!
Today's word is HOP (you can always grab the prompt early by visitingthe Pondering Page
The reason I used this word today is because of that very cute
bunny that plays a big part in the Easter celebrations.
BUT I would like to remind you all that those bunnies are living creatures and if you choose to purchase one as a gift, realize this is the gift that keeps on giving (and taking!)
The truth of the word hop though is that I really think of hopping
that is something I did not do very well as a child - but I can tell you I am better than my grandchildren right now...(that's not saying much though). I used to love playing hop scotch - anyone remember that one?
Another use of this word is a dance - in the 50s they were called sock hops (not sure why - they look like they are wearing shoes to me!)
Hi, Brenda. I have also written about hop scotch in my post. I remember playing hop scotch with my friends after school in my childhood. Thank you for hosting this amazing blog HOP.
I also wondered about why it was called a sock hop -- if they wore those shoes!?? Was before my time though. I'll have to ask my mom. I have a little "hoppy easter" treat on my prompt today. :)
my mom said it was because those Mary Janes were hard soled - and the dance was usually in the gym. so you would have to remove your shoes and were dancing in your socks! Ha - I guess that was rather obvious now that I think about it.
As you know, Bill was home. My time is spent with him, when he is home. Now that he is back on the road, I put on my "pondering cap". I always really "ponder" before I write. This one ended up writing itself. Thanks, Brenda! P.S. Unrelated to my post, they took off their shoes at "sock hops", and the girls all wore "bobby socks".

DeleteMy grandchildren still play hopscotch. Do you remember the "Bunny Hop"?
ReplyDeleteI remember the bunny hop and then I thought about the three legged sack race...which is more of a hop than a race
